Many guitarists can play the modes. However, there is much confusion regarding the actual music theory surrounding the modes. In reality, each mode has it's own special characteristics. Further, each mode has it's own musical color (emotion) that, when thoroughly understood, can strike at the emotional core of the listening audience.
