Playing bass is great, but learning to play slap bass can open up a world of new opportunities, regardless of what style you play. Stereotypically, slap bass has been relegated to funk music, but bassists in many other genres utilize this technique to their advantage as well. Perhaps the most well known example is Les Claypool.
