Love Junk

Now if you are Candian the power pop of The Pursuit of Happiness may not be that unfamiliar. And if you are an Aussie with a good memory you may remember the 1988 song I’m An Adult Now that got some airplay. But apart from that one brief flutter, TPOH has never resurfaced in Oz. I’m An Adult came from the album great Love Junk produced by Todd Rundgren. Lead by Moe Berg, TPOH played straight down the line rock’n'roll tempered by a melodic sense and the layered background vocals of Kris Abbott and Leslie Stanwyck. Love Junk also contains some of the greatest love songs of all time. A perfect album for Valentine’s Day. I’m not talkin about mushy, sweet songs of endearment or gentle ballads of longing. These are gut wrenching, cathartic, exquisite songs of desire, confusion and agony. These are real songs about love. It is an adult album and that is the key to the songs. They are not songs about young lust.
