Recording and mixing engineers are always striving for the highest possible quality in their work. But is there really any point in recording a song on a high-end computer at an ultra-high sampling rate if it will ultimately be listened to in mp3 form through earbuds? The author suggests transferring some of our attention and energy from high-end recording quality to high-end musical quality.
