As a Vocal Coach I meet many talented and dedicated artists working towards their dreams. Why do some make it while so many don't? We do know that people who achieve excellence, such as Olympic athletes, are not "taught" they are "coached".

When studying the piano, a student encounters a myriad piano styles. To master the instrument, at least several of these styles must be learned, and all if at all possible. Knowledge of various playing styles enables a pianist to enjoy and play in any genre and to cross-polinate styles to create a fusion he or she can call their own.

In the early 1970's, bubble gum rock was on its way out the door. Different types of music were beginning to blossom; fusion, funk, hard rock, and of course punk rock. While rock and roll had always represented rebellious human experience, punk rock took that mold and broke it over its knee. Punk might very well be characterized as the "most deviant part of the human soul" expressed as music.
